THE WORD BEHIND THE STORY
The passages that shape the game, in the King James wording, kept apart from our fiction.
The Bible text, quoted word for word with its reference.
How the game arranges events in time. One reading among several.
Our story: characters, dialogue, enemies, places and chronology.
Different readings
Christians hold several views on when the "catching away" of 1 Thessalonians 4 happens and how Revelation relates to history:
- Pre-tribulation: believers are caught up before a period of tribulation. The game uses this view as its dramatic framework.
- Mid- and post-tribulation: believers are gathered partway through or at the end of the tribulation.
- Amillennial: the thousand years of Revelation 20 are read symbolically, as the present age.
- Historicist and preterist: much of Revelation is read as unfolding through church history, or as fulfilled largely in the first century.
The game does not take sides in these debates beyond its storytelling choice, and it never claims to know dates: "of that day and hour knoweth no man" (Matthew 24:36).
